On the Couch with Katherine Schwarzenegger

Written by , Posted in Uncategorized

WELCOME EVERYONE!

Last weekend I had the privilege of sitting down with the unbelievable goddess that is Katherine Schwarzenegger. Katherine  is  a lifestyle blogger and best selling author of “Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty from Someone Who’s Been There and Back” and ” I just Graduated… Now what?”. Katherine has also appeared on The Today Show, as a guest co-host of The View and is a regular contributor to InStyle Magazine, all the meanwhile promoting self love and finding everyones inner beauty through confidence. Last week I had the pleasure of interviewing her on her personal journey to achieving self love. We discussed the issue of the stereotypical, “perfect” or “ideal” body types that social media has created for young impressionable teens, and the effect that has on each and every one of us. She gave incredible advice on how to stay body positive and accept our differences. We were all made differently. Having this opportunity was amazing! I learned so much from her poised, well spoken words. Even I to this day battle loving myself. It is important to know that we are not alone. We each have days when we feel down on ourselves for having a blemish or a bad case of the bloats. Surrounding ourselves with people who shine positivity is the key to finding ourselves in a stronger state!

Thank you Katherine for reminding me that this curvy girl, among others, is not alone. Together, we learn to love ourselves and learn to accept all body types, not just the ones that fill our Instagram feeds.

And please check out my interview with her for more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaErFLQMF5U

The Relevance of Rent

Written by , Posted in Uncategorized

I just finished performing Rent and was reflecting about the many ways which this powerful the musical about  a community of artists in alphabet city struggling with love and relationships against aids epidemic feels so relevant in post trump ( I call him pumpkin ) Amerika !!Originally performed in 1996 Rent is as relevant now as it was 21 years ago. Here are 8 reasons why.

 1.  The overall message of rent is  LOVE is all there is! LOVE Trumps hate!  As the most famous song in Rent (Seasons of love) says –  how do you measure time?: In …. Love

2.  Rent is about the power of community! – we are still better and stronger together!  No accident that Hilary was #stronger together – 45  wants to divide us !

3. How we are going to make our lives count – give into love or give into fear !!! Again, great advise for OUR COUNTRY post Cheeto presidency –  choose love not fear!

4. Pence  on LGBTQ issues can not be underestimated !!!  hello – this is a guy who supports conversion therapy!  Collins and Angel and Maureen and Joanne’s love shows true tenderness  !!!  This is how we  fight prejudice!

5.  CHEETO wants to cut  the NEA !!!hello!!do I have to repeat we need to support artists!!!!!!! Rent is about artists struggling to make a difference  !!! Clearly art still matters and the struggle continues !!!!

6.  Rich developers are taking over the lower east side – !!!! 20 years later the oligarchs  have taken over more than the lower east side – they have taken over Amerika (count  the  multi multi billionaires in the cabinet)money rules more than ever !!!!!

7. Still important to keep up conversation about  AIDS – AIDS is still particularly acute in Subsaharan Africa where Cheetoh has reinstated the Mexico City policy which is stopping US  foreign aid for  organizations that perform abortion services !! Guess what? These organizations losing there funding also distribute condoms !!! Guess Cheetoh doesn’t care if world wide aids rates rise as proved by  4! Let’s not forget that when Pence was governor of Indiana a massive outbreak of HIV occurred  which was caused by his public health funding cuts and stance against needle exchange !!

8.7 .  Just saying the songs in Rent are great !!!! It’s a really well written musical!!

ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL

Written by , Posted in Uncategorized

Hi everyone its fabuluc- I have been thinking a lot about how important it is for girls and young women to accept and love themselves (this is a really hard thing to do, I struggle with insecurities all the time ) – as you all know I am a curvy girl – I have curvy brain waves( my epilepsy shows  spikes and slowing in my eeg) , a curvy back from my scoliosis ( I have a hump)  and a curvy body (I’m chub chub) – I try to love myself as best I can but I often struggle with societal norms that demand  girls  conform to a certain standard of beauty-one thing that really pisses me off is “one size fits all  ” hello everybody  – one size does not fit all!! how obvious is that  !! there are millions of body shapes and sizes ( DUH- I mean there are millions of girls each one IS different )!!! There are millions of unique ways of being beautiful !! we all don’t have long legs and a thigh gap !!! time to #celebratedifference #embrace ourselves #love ourselves! no more body shaming!!!!!!
